How do you think life would be if we never lied?
This includes little white lies and insignificant lies. You know, like when people say good morning, you always say good morning back, even if you’re having a shitty morning and even if you absolutely hate that person. What if we were always honest? Would we all hate each other? Would relationships even exist? Are lies necessary to keep the balance?
I really wonder this. Someone may say they love me, but I’m not obligated to say it back. Why should I say it if I don’t mean it? Someone may say they’re happy to see me, but what if I’m kinda pissed that I ran into them? Am I obligated to pretend to be happy to keep the peace? It’s a curious thing.
In many situations, there’s a fine line between lying/pretending and just being civil and polite. In others, there seems to be quite a blur. Strange.
